History and Traditions
Monopoli, as well as all of Puglia, means history, traditions, gastronomy and nature.
The traces left by history are jealously guarded with the ancient walls, castles, churches, the Via Traiana etc. Traditions are proudly defended in religiosity and folklore.
Gastronomy with simple cuisine made of local products, with Adriatic fish caught every day and with agricultural products. Nature offers unique spectacles in the world: millenary olive trees, the karst caves of Castellana, the Trulli of Alberobello and the Itria Valley, the coves with their pristine sea surrounded by Mediterranean scrub.
With these peculiarities, today Monopoli stands out in Puglia and Italy for its current "Under tourism" offer, a tourism away from crowds and crowds, seasonally adjusted thanks to the mild climate all year round. And yet rural areas, long beaches, hilly landscapes and authentic ancient villages.
